Hello to prospective parents, returning families, alumni, parishioners, and visitors to our school website. I am delighted to welcome you to St. Agatha. We are a preschool through 8th grade faith-centered community, rooted in the traditions and teachings of the Catholic Church, committed to the development of the whole child, fostering students who are dedicated to a lifetime of learning and service to others.

Our dedicated faculty and staff work in partnership with parents, who we recognize as the primary educators, to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to flourish: developing their social, academic, and emotional well being. In addition to core classes, we prepare our students for their future careers by enhancing our strong academic program with the latest in technology tools for learning, along with providing weekly Music, Art, Technology, Library and Physical Education classes. CYO sports provide wonderful opportunities to develop sportsmanship skills and interact with other community members. Go Storm! While our school has a history that dates back over a century, our current school building was constructed in 2003: featuring state of the art technology and science labs, and a new gymnasium.

We draw upon the resources of our community to support and enhance the educational experience, as well as encourage and provide opportunity for our students to reach out and serve the community. Our program is directed toward the mastery of academic skills, while allowing students the opportunity to develop a range of individual talents and abilities. Our Learning Support Center works to meet the individual needs of our students, providing an additional layer of support. We model respect for others, and we teach the children strategies to peacefully resolve conflict and overcome the challenges of daily life. We are also committed to the professional growth of our staff as educators, improving the skills that allow them to reach and nurture their students.

Once again, welcome. If you are new to the school, we encourage you to stop by or call the office at (503) 234-5500 to set up a tour.

Mr. Chris Harris

Our Philosophy

St. Agatha Catholic School is a faith-based community committed to the development of the whole child, fostering students who are dedicated to a lifetime of learning and service
to others.

Our History

St. Agatha Catholic School and Parish was founded in 1911, when Sellwood was a small village with unpaved streets. A group of three concerned mothers appealed to the Archbishop for permission to build a parish school in Sellwood. The church and school resided in the same building until 1921 when the current church was completed
